This Fall We Have New Opportunities for Children & Youth at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church
HELP WANTED for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Saint Mary’s is blessed by a truly extraordinary ministry to our children: the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. More than just an education program, Catechesis is a ministry of religious formation that helps children as young as three years old grow in their relationship with God through experiences rooted in Scripture, guided by our liturgy, and based on the principles of Maria Montessori.
Mary Claire’s group in the atrium (6 years and up) will grow to at least eight children next year. In anticipation of this, Susan Randolph is planning to assist Mary Claire next fall as Mary Claire will expand to include materials and presentations for a Level 3 (9-12 year-olds) atrium.
This will leave a vacancy in Level 1 (3-6 year olds). We will only be able to offer atrium for 3-5 year olds next fall if someone is willing to attend training opportunities. Beginning this month, a new Level 1 class is being offered. The course unfolds over the period of 10-12 months, meeting one weekend a month (except December). For more information, there are brochures posted here, or visit the website for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. The church will pay all tuition fees; please contact Fr. Gary if you are interested.

THE ATRIUM FOR CHILDREN
Atrium now meets on Wednesdays after school. This allows the children (and their leaders) more time to explore the lessons and experience the growth found in the inspiring curriculum of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. For more, talk to our gifted leaders, Mary Claire Hopper and Susan Randolph. Children will be taken home between 5:00 and 5:30.
YOUTH IN THE JESUS LOUNGE

It’s been a while since Saint Mary’s has had a youth group, and it’s coming back this fall under the leadership of Alyson Johns-Robinson and Bubba Smith. The youth will meet in the “Jesus Lounge,” the small room near the Wheeler Room, and gather for special events.
